Friday January 28

40F may be a good temperature for beer... but it was too warm for riding this morning! I probably overdressed because of the winter weather warning that is the buzz this morning. Sleet and cold on the way home. I discovered that sleet stings!

43F fog and mist, the first 20 miles were easy the last 7 seemed up hill! We traveled thru the lands of Lilliput, of Brobdingnag, and of Laputa; the Utopian country of the Houyhnhnms where intelligent horses rule the Yahoos! Then home again home again to Redriff, deep in the Waddell triangle.

Tuesday January 18

19F not so cold degrees out, I arrived on the veranda at 6:05 after a slow slow ride across a frozen city-scape. The fountains at Five Points were quite frozen again. Slightly overdressed with the usual sub-freezing stuff on. My feets were much warmer! I wore my black wool LL Bean socks, touring shoes with worn-out cotton sport socks over the shoes - it worked great, I didn’t even need to loosen the toe-clip straps.

New Years Day 2005

Mount: Gulliver’s Trek

21 Miles on a near perfect bike riding day. It was near 70F. I rode the Old Freight Room Ride and home again... There was small turnout since there was a New Years Day ride elsewhere. The ride was somewhat cut short by a SBLer along the route having a party. Others stopped while I pedaled on rather than risking it.
